Hey, last weeks trivia questions........Anybody get it?? Pretty easy
people....The young lady in the photo was none other than our
former 1st baseman and 2004 graduate Amanda Peters
(PETIE).....She played 4 years at River Falls and is now currently the
assistant coach at Fall Creek!

Above photo taken last year during our annual fast-pitch chronicle
clinic put on by the legendary Coach Bob Tomlinson........It is
always a great couple of days at Haines Field of Learning new stuff
and having fun doing it!!

O.K. People....This 1 is pretty
easy....Who is
this....Hint.....She is a former
all state pitcher for the
Lakers.....Her sister is also a
former all state pitcher for the
Lady Lakers......I caught her in
practice every day her junior
and senior years.......She threw
a nasty drop ball that on more
than 1 occasion my shins fell
victim to....That never felt
good...At their senior banquet
she gave me the ball we
practiced with every
day....Singed of coarse!! It is
my favorite softball of all time
and it is in my house sitting on
my desk.....

Lady Lakers......I caught her in

Most of the time when your season ends it is disappointing if your not playing on the
hallowed grounds of Goodman Diamond....That is the standard that was set by our
former legendary caoch....Mr. Haines.....I feel extremely privileged to be a part of
something so special and to be able to coach such amazing young ladies that are
passionate about this awesome game and know what Pepin Fast-pitch is all
about.....Young ladies that know how special it is to wear that uniform and know
what it means to have in on.....Understanding that the name on the front means a
hell of a lot more than the 1on the back is a huge key to success and we have such
great kids in Pepin that totally "Get It"....What a fun thing to be a part of!!!!
Having such high standards can cost you a lot of tears at the end of a season if you
are expecting great things and you come up short....Like Mr. Haines says in the
article below........"You take a risk every time you try to accomplish something
great" I thought that this past year we had the ability to make a run at the state
title and really believed that.....We certainly had the tools to do it.......The problem is
at tournament time the margin for error is as thin as a sheet of paper....You can't
have a bad game.....And of coarse in the end is what happened to us this
year.......The same could be said of the team from 1997 that cruised to a conference
championship and was ranked in the top 5 in the state all year long......When they
entered the post season it looked to be a easy path to sectionals.........Ya right!!
There is no such thing at tournament time as we have all experienced in the past
right........Arcadia came to Pepin that day in May 1997 with no intentions of going
home winners...But in the end all the Pepin faithful stood in disbelief as the Girls
from Arcadia jumped up and down on our field and celebrated the enormous
upset.....You just never know and that is why we play the game.....This game can be
so cruel at times and sometime send your emotions through the roof the other
way.....I can't imagine ever doing anything else from March through the 1st part of
June every year than spending it with the awesome young ladies here in pursuit of
greatness and dreaming of what might happen in the end!!
